About

River Cafe & Bistro is a bright, contemporary cafe and bistro in Shoreham, offering fresh breakfast, brunch, and lunch all week round. With riviera vibes, open and light interiors, and comfortable seating, it provides a perfect setting for relaxation. Outside, you can enjoy the view as the River Adur ebbs and flows, transporting you to Mediterranean climes on sunny days while reflecting the heart of the Shoreham community.

Owner Darren and his team are committed to local and ethical sourcing, with 95% of the food made in-house and the rest sourced from local suppliers like Horsham Coffee and Bird & Blend Tea. The rotating artwork from the Shoreham Art Gallery co-operative further supports local talent.

Breakfast and brunch offerings are diverse, from quick sets like filter coffee with sourdough toast to indulgent options like Benedicts, buttermilk pancake stacks, and vegan hash. Their specials include garlicky mushrooms on sourdough and veggie shakshuka. Kids have their own menu, and gluten-free options are available.

For lunch, the deli counter is filled with freshly made sandwiches, quiches, paninis, and salads, perfect for eating in or taking away. Lunch packages include hearty combos like a fresh sandwich, salad, and a Scotch egg or vegan sausage roll.

Dinner is served every Friday and Saturday night with a prix fixe menu featuring two or three courses, seasonal dishes, and a focus on fresh seafood on Fridays.

River Cafe & Bistro is fully licensed, offering a fantastic selection of drinks, including local beers, wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. The flooring, made from salvaged wood from the West Pier, adds a unique touch to the cafe’s charm.

Family and dog-friendly, the cafe welcomes all with accessible facilities, alfresco seating, and a laptop-friendly environment for remote workers. River Cafe & Bistro is a hub for community and sustainability, working with local charities and suppliers to ensure a positive impact on Shoreham.
