About

'2024 - Centenary of the Jazz Solo'!'
A celebration of the Improvised Solo within the Jazz genre. From 1924 the practice of solo improvisation became an integral part of most jazz performances. Jazz was becoming increasingly popular in New Orleans, Kansas City, Chicago and New York City and 1924 was something of a benchmark of jazz being seen as a serious musical form.

Top musicians from the South make up 'Prohibition Jazz', led by freelance trumpet player and educator, Tony Waller. The band performs music from the 1920s to the 40s with special attention to the Traditional, Dixieland and New Orleans styles. Music from the great bands such as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Duke Ellington. Audience participation and foot-tapping music guarantee a memorable evening!
