The Deep Dark Woods need little introduction to fans of American Music. With material like The Place I Left Behind and The Banks of the Leopold Canal their impeccable musicianship and hauntingly lyrical songs have earned comparisons with The Band, with whom they share a Canadian background and a love of all traditional American music.
Their new record, Yarrow, takes Southern Gothic to a new level, a celebration of the dark and weird surreal murder ballads and spooky love songs seen through the eyes of frontman Ryan Boldt's fevered and sometimes macabre imagination.
