Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is one of the darkest musicals ever written. Set in Victorian-era London, it tells the unsettling tale of Sweeney Todd, a barber who returns home after fifteen years of exile to seek revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life. When his initial revenge plan fails, Sweeney becomes increasingly unhinged, swearing vengeance on the entire human race. Meanwhile, his business associate, Mrs. Lovett, bakes the bodies of his victims into meat pies and sells them to unsuspecting customers.
