About
Brighton Sundae is back for another daytime dance party at Patterns and we’re joined by an absolute legend. Robert Luis is one of Brighton’s most important musical exports. He’s the boss of Tru Thoughts records and the man behind some of our favourite music releases of the last 25 years. He’s brought us Quantic Soul Orchestra, the Hot 8 Brass Band, Bonobo, Alice Russell, Flowdan, WheelUP, Rebecca Vasmant and Bruk Rogers. He’s DJ’d alongside Groove Armada, Gilles Peterson, 4Hero, Roni Size and Basement Jaxx, and as a DJ is a firm favourite on the festival circuit, including at many of our favourites, like Love Supreme and We Out Here.

Rob’s first appearance at Brighton Sundae last November is now the stuff of legend - 3 generations on the dancefloor, and everything from old-school hip-hop, to drum n bass, to Luther Vandross re-edits. It was one of the most joyful moments of 2024, and we’re absolutely stoked to have him back to serve up a second helping of Sunday audio indulgence.
Joining Robert Luis on the decks will be D-Novo and Mr Dan. Mr Dan has built a solid reputation over many years in Brighton with residencies at The Jolly Brewer and The Great Eastern. His love of Afrobeat and soul is always a joy on the Brighton Sundae dancefloor. D-Novo is Sundae’s most eclectic selecter, equally at home dropping late night electronica as playing afternoon jazz-funk. Expect to hear everything from obscure broken beat to Latin disco, weird remixes of old classics and some dirty basslines.
Expect fantastic sound, a lovely mixed crowd and joyful vibes.
Presented by Patterns.
All ages welcome
