A little history on Velvet...
Emma Draper founded the business 25 years ago with her mum, Iris, in a small shop in North Laine, Brighton. After moving around the city a few times, they’ve happily settled in their current location in the heart of Hove for the past 16 years. The space currently spans over 2,500 sq. ft across two beautifully curated floors.
A talented team of 16 incredible women collaborate with Emma, with Gemma, the Managing Director, overseeing all aspects of Velvet’s daily operations, including their growing social media presence. The team is also a family affair, with Emma’s remarkable 82-year-old mother, Iris, managing the bookkeeping and serving as Emma’s constant inspiration.
Velvet is gearing up for an exciting year ahead, with plans already underway for expansion. This will include the launch of a brand-new men’s fashion range, alongside even more stunning women’s wear, set to open in Spring 2025. In the meantime, the upstairs store remains open as usual, with fresh new collections dropping every week.
This year also marks Velvet's 25th anniversary, and to celebrate this milestone, they’ll be hosting a series of in-store events and special celebrations.
