Brighton Oktoberfest at Shelter Hall: 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19 October

Shelter Hall are bringing Munich to Brighton for Oktoberfest… by the sea. Fear not, they are not going to have you sitting outside in the rain but transforming the main hall into Brighton’s very own beer tent. Housing multiple local breweries to sit alongside their resident kitchens will all be cooking up Munich-inspired dishes.

Nature Heroes and Nat Go activities is launching at Wakehurst: 19 October – 3 November

Wakehurst has joined forces with National Geographic Kids magazine for a three-year collaboration. This October, children can play the role of a seed scientist on their Nature Heroes: Seed Seeker adventure, as they follow the seed banking process from start to finish. This forms the ninth mission in the Nature Heroes programme, a much-loved activity in many families’ holiday calendars.

A Halloween Whodunnit – Kids Trail & Activities at Borde Hill: 19 October – 3 November

This Halloween half-term, take your family to a spooktacular costume party at Foolish Mortal Mansion. Don your creepiest outfits and come along if you dare… it’s going to be a Halloween party to remember! Ages 3 - 8.

Do you dare explore one of Britain’s most haunted houses? This guided tour will take you all around this spooky historic house. As you explore, you will uncover tales of the ghostly sightings and supernatural experiences as told throughout Brighton’s rich history. Ages 13 – 16

Halloween Baking and Cooking sessions at Brighton & Hove Food Partnership: 29 & 30 October

In this special seasonal class, your child can free their creative demons and go wild creating scary but sweet treats. If you prefer a more savoury session enjoy a hands-on workshop with experienced cookery teacher, Cat Rochefort who will see your child learning classic cookery skills. You may never want to cook again!

New Moon Party Halloween Special at Beach Box Sauna: 31 October

Experience a mystical Halloween New Moon party special with Beach Box Spa's Samhain Coven. Enjoy the warmth of the saunas as the New Moon rises, cool off in the crisp Autumn air and gather by the fire in the moonlight.

Day of the Dead at the Basketmakers: 31 October – 2 November

Halloween Pottery Painting at Rockwater: 30 October 

Families are invited to a fun children’s pottery painting session in the cosy surroundings of The Lodge. Little ones can paint, decorate, and design their own skull or pumpkin ornament. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Haunted Pub at the George Payne: 31 October

A new festival is taking place at TOM that showcases live music in the round with 360º of AV projections. They have two acts announced (AH! KOSMOS from Turkey, and UK producer FOREST SWORDS), with more coming very soon. 

Designer and Maker Fair at Charleston: 23 – 24 November 

Browse a curated collection of designers and makers, each offering a selection of artisan goods made locally and sustainably. This is your chance to find the perfect present, stocking filler, or bring home enviable homewares, textiles and clothing. Set in the Hay Barn at Charleston in Firle with over 30 local and independent artists, ceramicists, designers and makers, who will also be on hand to discuss their work, influences and ideas.
