As we get ready to say goodbye to 2022 we've decided to look ahead and see what we're going to add to our #BrightonWishlist for 2023. 

Here's 23 events that will Brighton up 2023...

Sea Lanes: Spring 2023

The UK's first national open water swimming centre, featuring a heated 50m outdoor swimming pool, is due to open on Maderia Drive in Spring 2023. 


Brighton Marathon Weekend: 31 March - 2 April

We love the buzz in the city over Marathon Weekend! If, like us, you can't quite run a marathon then head to the Beach Village to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on the inspirational runners.


Brighton Fringe:  5 May - 4 June 

Brighton Fringe is the largest open-access arts festival in England and we're looking forward to taking the #JourneyIntoFringe and checking out their exciting new pop-up venue.


Brighton Festival: 6 - 28 May

The Guest Director for Brighton Festival 2023 will be the critically acclaimed musician Nabihah Iqbal. Nabihah is an inter-disciplinary artist with a background in law and ethnomusicology. 


Artists Open Houses: 6 - 28 May

Artists’ Open Houses is the biggest free arts event in the UK, with over 1,000 artists exhibiting in 200 houses and art studios opened to the public across the city.


The Great Escape Festival: 10 - 13 May 

The Great Escape is the festival for new music, showcasing 500 emerging artists from all over the world in 30+ walkable venues across the city and a pop-up festival site on Brighton Beach. Make sure you don't miss a thing and book your accommodation now. 


Elderflower Fields: 26 - 29 May

A wild weekend family adventure, packed full of music, sports, nature and the arts, all set in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside.


London to Brighton Bike Ride: 18 June

This epic 54 mile journey from capital to coast is the oldest bike ride in Europe and is all done to raise vital funds, and awareness, for the British Heart Foundation. 


Brighton Comedy Garden: 5 - 9 July

Live & open-air - head to Preston Park for the South Coast's brightest comedy extravaganza. As well as comedy headliners you'll also find a delicious array of street food stalls from local legends. 


Pub in the Park: 14 - 16 July

Tom Kerridge's Pub in the Park comes to Brighton with a laid-back celebration of food, drink and music. Acts already confirmed include Sugababes, Happy Mondays, Toploader and Example. 


Trans Pride: 15 July

Trans Pride Brighton is the first and largest trans pride event in Europe, they've been putting the T first since 2013. As 2023 will be the 10th anniversary event it's going to be bigger, brighter and better than ever before!


Kite Festival: 15 - 16 July 

This annual event is fun for all the family and brings a fantastic display of colour to Stanmer Park. 


On the Beach: 21 - 23 and 28 - 30 July

The biggest & brightest drum and bass music stars will be on the beach this summer for a festival of beach vibes and fun in the sun. 


Brighton Pride Parade: 5 August

The Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade is one of the biggest and brightest events in Brighton & Hove’s events calendar, with over 300,000 people pouring out onto the city’s streets to participate in and watch on as an all-singing, all-dancing carnival of colour wends its way from the Hove Lawns to the main Pride festival site.


Brighton Mod Weekender: 27 - 28 August 

We are the mods! We are the mods! Return to the spiriual home of the Mods over the  August Bank Holiday for a weekend of music, sharp suits and of course the famous scooter run. 


Brighton Triathlon: 9 - 10 September

Brighton & Hove seafront provides the iconic backdrop to the official Brighton & Hove Triathlon. The event also includes children's triathlons for 8-16 year olds.


Shaun the Sheep by the Sea: Autumn

Following on from the fabulous Snowdogs and Snailspace trails, Brighton will play host to another Wild in Art trail. This time the baa-rilliant art trail will feautre Shaun the Sheep so get ready to join the #BrightonFlock. 


Brighton Jazz Festival: 29 September - 1 October

The city will host 4 days of world class jazz from deep tradition to the cutting edge. 


Boundary Brighton: 30 September

Boundary Brighton is a festival with five stages of music, a funfair, delicious local food and other unexpected treats, all in the beautiful surroundings of Stanmer Park. 


Royal Pavilion Ice Rink: November - early January (dates tbc)

Situated in the gardens of Brighton’s iconic pleasure palace, the Royal Pavilion, this beautiful outdoor ice-rink allows up to 250 skaters per session, with penguin stabilisers for younger skaters and a learners’ area for the unsure-footed.


Veteran Car Run: 5 November

This annual event commemorates the Emancipation Run of 14 November 1896. Today, this run attracts hundreds of vintage vehicles from the UK and abroad as well as thousands of spectators. A fantastic photo opportunity!


Christmas Market: November - December (dates tbc)

With over 150 festive stalls, the festival includes two purpose-built entertainment venues, live shows, all the fun of the fair and a unique opportunity to visit Santa’s Workshop. For the older revellers, there will be an Après Ski zone with the best mulled wine in Brighton!


Burning the Clocks: 21 December

The dark grip of long wintry nights is broken by a flicker of light as thousands of people gather to make paper and willow lanterns to carry through the city before burning them on the beach as a token for the end of the year and to greet the lengthening days.
