We've decided to get to know some of our local business partners a bit better - and today we speak to Brett Preston from UnBarred Berwery...

Tell us about yourself and how you started in the hospitality sector

My name is Brett and I am the Marketing and Social Media Manager for UnBarred Brewery. Before joining UnBarred full time, I worked in the education and charity sector supporting young people and children with SEND. I’ve always been a big supporter of the hospitality industry and have a big love for all things drink & food related!

What do you love most about what you do?

It’s so great to be able to chat and meet new like-minded people from Brighton and beyond. I really enjoy sharing my passion for beer, food and this great city we live in with other people.

What’s your average day like, or is it ever average?

As we have a small team, every day can be different. From helping with in the brewery to organizing events it’s never a dull moment in the office.

It’s exciting times for businesses to be able to reopen after lockdown, what have you been doing to plan for this?

We have opened our taproom at various points over the past year and after the last lockdown we took some time to plan and really consider the best and safest options. So that meant that we waited until the latest lift of restrictions before we re-opened.

We are now back open and loving it, especially seeing people enjoying themselves in the taproom!

Have you got anything new planned for the coming year? 

We are currently planning our Birthday Beer Fest which will be happening in August, new beers and collaborations with other breweries which will be great fun. We also have our first Barrel-Aged beer, Stoutzilla coming out later in the year!

What do you love most about Brighton?

It’s the individuality and inclusivity of this city that I love. There is always something happening or something brand new popping up – it’s exciting and ever changing.
