Wood Engraving Day Course

About

80 (General) Join us for an introduction to wood engraving with Emily Johns, a printmaker, and experienced wood engraving teacher based in Hastings, Sussex. Drawing inspiration from the wood engravings in Towner's Collection gallery, during the workshop you'll create your own wood engravings, learning about the history, techniques, tools and printmakers along the way. Your first block of wood, tools and other materials such as inking slabs and paper will be provided, and you will be able to purchase additional wood blocks during the class. The course will take place in Studio 1. Attendee numbers will be restricted to 12 people. There will be around an hour break for lunch.About Emily Johns Your tutor will be Emily Johns, a printmaker and painter based in Hastings, Sussex, and experienced wood engraving teacher. If any of the attendees have any access requirements that Towner can make in order for them to participate in the workshop, this can be arranged. If you require access arrangements, please email two weeks before the event date so that we can book a service if needed.
