What Lies Beneath: The Story of Masquerade

About

18:00 (50mins)

A common trope of folk horror is the unearthing of ancient relics from the soft earth, unleashing dark magic into the world. In 1979 real golden treasure, a bejewelled hare, was buried in the earth in a secret location in England, catalysing the world’s biggest treasure hunt. This entertaining talk uncovers its story of and the dark forces that were unleashed when the treasure was unearthed through sculduggery. It is also the story of a unique book: Masquerade.
