About

**Column258** is a multi-disciplinary & groove making, sensory explorer a 7-piece neo-psych group and truly experimental collective from Hastings, combining spoken word + improv. Mischievous art-rock pulsates at sonic outer-limits as the Column deliver one big addictive sound and huge cinematic atmosphere. Blending analogue with digital, from found objects and samples, from horns to korgs, hypnotic guitars weave through inventive song cycles. With electric pinecones and multi-vocal looping; the band exemplifies the unexpected. A powerhouse rhythm section of chain-drums and middle-eastern percussion sets the groove alight while the flicker of beat poetry from the lost railroads of the valleys to any god forgiven place collage into noir sublimation joins in like a piper pulling its fray.

The band often play against a backdrop of projected films and have a live dancer depending on stage space! Each vocalist having unique styles of attack and delivery from Robert Wyatt to Captain Beefheart and Tom Waits. This band is all about the psych sounds of kraut and freakout 60s folklore crossed with punk and delta blues.

**The Decadent Dayze** are a well-established Brighton band, who have been creating and playing their blend of Psych-tinged Garage Rock for nearly a decade. Evolving over that time with the present core line-up of Lewis Aslan (guitar and vocals), Sean Atkinson (drums) and Chris Marks-Billson (bass) now augmented by Tristian Watson OBrien (keyboards) leading to a new impetus musically with far trippier sounds on certain songs, but with the ability to rock out when they want to.

The Dayze have played dozens of well received shows over the years and are currently working on an album, recording a number of tracks with Julian Tardo at Church Road Studios in Hove. The band are extremely happy with the results so far, especially as they managed to get a few guests to help out, including Emma Morton (Sarie) and Gregg McKella (Paradise 9). At the moment just one track, called Nine Maidens and featuring Emma on backing vocals and Gregg on clarinet, has been released on-line (Bandcamp). The Decadent Dayze will shortly be releasing a 4-track EP called 3, 6, 9, Ive Got Time.

The expected release date is Friday 27th September, and features Nine Maidens, along with the songs Three Feathers, Six Pebbles and Ive Got Time. Other releases are planned before the album is finished, including a possible 7, but in the meantime, a good selection of their earlier material is available via Bandcamp, including several tracks recorded in Brighton by Joe Watson (Stereolab).

**Hybrid Kid**: is the longstanding project of singer/songwriter Danny Lloyd. The band has been pushing the envelope for a few years now, producing 2 albums and a good few EPs of sharp-edged, wild and unpredictable indie-punk garage rock. Having navigated the UK music scene over a number of years, Brighton's Hybrid Kid upped sticks, choosing to spend an extended period of time in their spiritual home of America. The country's eclectic mix of genre had a pronounced effect on a band who heartily embraced their love of Garage Rock and Americana. The shift was easy, as Hybrid Kid made their mark on the locals through their expansive riffs, hooky choruses and raucous live shows.

Now back in their homeland, a more complete, mature band, Hybrid Kid have made an impact upon local music industry tastemakers. With their song Dropped hitting 280k streams on Spotify support began to follow from the likes of Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, Melita Dennett on BBC Sussex, Brighton's Latest TV and The Roadee, to name but a few.

Now, with the cold dark nights of winter fast approaching, Hybrid Kid have returned with the warm, campfire glow of latest single, Miracle. Heavily influenced by their love of Americana, the track shines brightly as mournful bass lines are propelled by the freight train shuffle of drum beats, brought together beautifully by the impactful vocals and sublime guitar work of frontman Danny Lloyd. The enthusiasm and energy of Hybrid Kid is an extension of three wayward personalities with the aforementioned Danny (guitar/vocals) joined by Tim (bass), and Fabio (drums) who, collectively, bring a dynamic and experimental edge to this band of rocknroll travellers.
