About
For the second of our monthly showcase nights, we have psychedelic skronk rock powerhouse The Qwarks, whose rhythm section delivers slick, thunderous, hypnotic tribal grooves, supporting lightning-fast angular guitar work, whilst singing about hilarious concepts such as angry Buddhists, rabbits, ladies from Hove (actually), and the joys of perfume.
These guys are some of the most fun you can have (with your clothes on), and are a testament to the importance of a strong work ethic, which is evidenced by the level of their artistic output- in both sound and vision.
Tighter than a gnats chuff, and a million times larger in sonic presence, this trio make songs in 7/4 sound as natural as a Bo Diddly rhythm. https://theqwarks.bandcamp.com/
The first time we saw S0DDS we were grinning from ear to ear and laughing our arses off, whilst firmly nodding in agreement that the Co-Op are too bloody expensive, as we were also serenaded with tales of fat white blokes (lads) on holiday.
S0DDS are a Southampton 2-piece doing some kind of hardcore post-punk on silly subjects. They call them 'lairy' around the South but they're actually very nice people - just a bit angry. It's good, unclean, fun, and catchy as you like.
Massive amounts of energy, and a refreshing realism and sense of humour to boot. https://s0dds.bandcamp.com/
Rounding up the lineup we have one-man music machine Hybrid Kid- who's been likened to a punky David Byrne, which we happen to agree with.
We've yet to witness the Kid live but we are incredibly excited to see his well-crafted and polished songs performed in person.
He promises to deliver sharp-edged, wild and unpredictable garage rock, with spacey & psychedelic tinged overtones. http://hybridkid.co.uk
