About
Lawrence is British music's last true enigma, plagued with bad luck.
After releasing ten albums with Felt, his new band Denim seemed destined for success when their single 'Summer Smash' was named Radio 1's Single of the Week. Then Princess Diana died in a car crash and all copies of the album were melted down. Depression, addiction, and homelessness followed, yet Lawrence never gave up.
In 'Street-Level Superstar: A Year with Lawrence', Times music critic Will Hodgkinson chronicles Lawrence's ongoing search for redemption as he tries to write the world's greatest song. Together they will reunite with Daphne Guinness to reflect on society's obsession with fame, and the sacrifices made— family, relationships, sanity—in the pursuit of art.
