Still-Life Oil Painting

About

Join painter Laura Smith for an enriching one-day workshop and immerse yourself in the vibrant world of still life oil painting. Known for its endless potential for dynamic colour combinations, still life provides the perfect canvas for creative exploration—and there's no better setting for this than the artistic haven of Charleston.

Drawing inspiration from the rich interiors of the house, Laura will guide you through the essentials of composition, the art of colour mixing, and the wet-in-wet technique, allowing you to bring your still life subjects to life with depth. . With plenty of one-on-one tuition, Laura will ensure you feel supported every step of the way, encouraging you to trust your instincts and experiment with your own unique style.

Whether you're picking up oil paints for the first time or have years of experience, the supportive and approachable teaching style will help you make the most of your day, ensuring you leave with new skills and plenty of inspiration.

The workshop includes an exclusive tour of the modernist home and studio at Charleston, providing a glimpse into its rich artistic history.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including a delicious lunch made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

All essential equipment, such as easels, boards, brushes, and paint will be provided— but participants are welcome to bring their own paint.
