About
As winner of the Nobel Prize for literature in 2021, Abdulrazak Gurnah marked his place as one of the most significant writers of the 21st century. For nearly 40 years his novels—set in his homeland of Zanzibar—have given voice to those whose lives have been shaped by politics, war and historical trauma.
He will be joined by Tash Aw, a writer born in China and brought up in Malaysia whose novels have won the Whitbread and Commonwealth Writers' awards and twice been nominated for the Booker Prize. His latest novel 'The South' is the first in a planned quartet of books about a family caught up in the jaws of history.
Together they will discuss the power of literature to reveal the realities for marginalised people around the world.
