About
'We ache for love, but love eludes us...'
In her new book 'Love in Exile', Shon Faye examines how society's ideals of love are increasingly dictated by consumer capitalism, a force that excludes and marginalises those who refuse to conform. Drawing on her personal experiences as a trans woman, Faye explores the many dimensions of love—romantic, platonic, familial and self-love—while critiquing the narrow ideals that pressure individuals to reshape themselves to fit into them.
Faye will speak to Polari First Book prize-winning author Nicola Dinan, about her wise, funny and radically clear-eyed work. They will discuss the profound call to reclaim love, reminding us that recognising and embracing love in whatever form it takes, is the meaning of life itself.
