About

Horsham Symphony Orchestra returns to The Capitol with an eclectic Spring concert, featuring one of Elgar’s best-known works, Enigma Variations. Each variation is a characterful musical portrait of a member of his family or an acquaintance. The theme and variations, which include the much-loved “Nimrod”, are full of beautiful melodic lines.

The concert begins with Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres) by Mizzy Mazzoli, a Contemporary American composer. This atmospheric piece depicts the solar system, a collection of loops that twist around each other in a larger orbit. The orchestra will then present the world premiere of a recorder concerto "Angels on the Beach at Night" by Thomas Shorthouse. The piece was written for Horsham-based musician Luca Imperiale, who is the soloist for this performance.

A very exciting and unique concert!
