About
About this course:
A comprehensive training course that will equip you with all the knowledge you need to become a fully trained First Responder at the University of Brighton. This course covers your duties under the latest fire legislation, as well as looking at how to enter a building to investigate the cause of a fire alarm activation.
The Importance of First Responder Training
As of 2022, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) will only attend fire alarm activations in our academic buildings between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday.
In these premises, when people are present, occupiers confirm if there is a fire and call 999 for the fire service. ESFRS would then dispatch the appropriate resources to deal with the incident so First Responders are vital for the safe-keeping of staff, students, guests and visitors.
Who is this for?
This training is suitable for all staff. Flexible working practices have reduced the numbers of staff regularly on campus and additional First Responders are required to support these changes. This course is suitable for those new to their First Responder roles, as well as those seeking a refresher.
The course will cover:
* The importance of fire alarm activation investigation
* Safe investigation techniques
* How to deal with incidents
Additional information:
Thank you for demonstrating your commitment to implementing sound emergency fire procedures. Please note that the course is free of charge. If you wish to cancel, we require five working days' notice, otherwise there will be a cancellation fee of £50 to your department.
Anyone wishing to obtain First Responder refresher training is also welcomed to attend this course.
