About

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course is delivered by Occupational Safety and Health Services and is designed to support those travelling on university business with the skills and information needed to plan and manage safe and successful trips. It is recommended that participants have attended Risk Assessment training within the last 5 years.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This training is aimed at staff and PGR students who

* travel overseas on trips either on their own, with colleagues or with groups of students
* travel on residential trips in the UK for higher risk practical activities on their own, with colleagues, or with groups of students

It is not aimed at staff and PGRs who undertake low risk trips in the UK e.g. conference attendance (although there is still a requirement for these trips to be risk assessed)

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

* To know the requirements of the university policy
* To appreciate the phases of managing a successful trip
* To have an awareness of the types of threats, hazards and control measures associated with travel
* To understand what UoB travel insurance covers
* To have an awareness of tools and templates available
* To know where and how to get further support

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Thank you for demonstrating your commitment to implementing sound event management procedures. Please note that the course is free of charge to university staff. If you wish to cancel, we require five working days' notice, otherwise there will be a cancellation fee of £50 to your department.
