Dulcie May Moreno is an emerging Jazz artist based in Kent. A self taught musician, also playing guitar and percussion. Taking early influence from legends such as Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, then moving on to the inimitable talents of Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy and more currently Kurt Elling.
Dulcie has had a number of weekly and monthly residencies, hosted jam sessions and ticketed events at venues such as the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, and Astor Theatre in Deal for six years pre pandemic. Since then Dulcie decided to use the opportunity to work on her own voice in music again, and has been writing some original songs for guitar and piano. The Quintet have been recording these original songs and they are due to be released in the next few months.
Dulcie has performed at Jazz Clubs in London such as upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, Olivers Jazz Bar in Greenwich, Annie’s Jazz Club in Southend on Sea, and is a regular at Jazz nights at The Queens Club in Barons Court. She has recently been on tour performing in Cambridge, Newcastle, Scotland, Edinburgh and has plans to tour Scotland and Ireland next year. In June 2023 and 2024 Dulcie Curated a very successful two day Jazz festival at Woolton Farm in Canterbury, programming and headlining the Saturday evenings.
Alongside Dulcies’ original selection of songs, The Quintet will perform classic standards by Julie London and Chet Baker.
Audiences can expect to hear hauntingly beautiful arrangements, inspired by the imaginings of the "what could have been" between two great intimate, sultry players. 'Walkin'', 'Do it the hard way', 'I'm in the Mood 'for love' and You and the 'Night and the music' are just a handful of songs on the set list.
