Collectif Scale: Ammonite (Dreamy Place Festival 2024)

About

Especially for Dreamy Place, you are invited to explore the Victorian Cab Road tunnel that runs beneath Brighton Railway Station.
Usually off limits to the public, the secret 80-metre tunnel will be transformed into an immersive installation of light and sound by Parisian-based Collectif Scale.

Created in 2017, Ammonite is one of the collective’s most iconic works, achieving overwhelming success over the past seven years. The latest version of this light and music installation that has toured the world, shows in the historic Cab Road tunnel under Brighton Station. The static structure uses light to give the illusion of organic movement and echoes the natural architecture of a prehistoric shell. Ammonite offers an otherworldly experience to visitors.

Composed of repeated lines of light, Ammonite’s organic design is precise and balanced. Light plays a major part in the show’s narration with the precise visual transcription. The object comes to life and spectators have the opportunity to contemplate an emerging poetry.

Collectif Scale is a group of creatives from very different professional and artistic backgrounds. Based in Paris, Collectif Scale is above all a group of passionate friends who wanted to do something unique in their spare time by bringing their expertise together. They take inspiration from the world of contemporary art as well as from mainstream and pop culture.
