Dirk Maggs, born in St. Helier, Jersey in February 1955, is a British freelance writer and director with an illustrious career in radio drama. His innovative approach combines cinematic storytelling, layered sound effects, orchestral music, and digital recording technology, resulting in what he terms Audio Movies.

Maggs studied Drama at King Alfreds College, Winchester, where he later became one of the first Honorary Fellows of the University of Winchester for his contributions to the Dramatic Arts. In 2019, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University for his work in the Arts.

Throughout his career, Maggs has produced remarkable radio comedy and drama. Notable works include:

* Batman Knightfall(BBC Radio 1)
* Flywheel, Shyster & Flywheel(an updated version of a 1932 Marx Brothers radio show)
* The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Tertiary to Hexagonal Phases with Douglas Adams on BBC Radio 4)
* The Sandman (for Audible / DC Comics with Neil Gaiman)

Maggss expertise extends beyond the airwaves. He was awarded the Best Audiobook Producer by the Audio Publishers Association in 2021.
