Michelle de Kretser, a Sri Lankan-born Australian writer and 2023 Folio Prize winner for 'Scary Monsters', explores fiction, essay and memoir in her latest novel 'Theory & Practice', which tells the story of a young woman researching the novels of Virginia Woolf in 1980s Melbourne.
Madeleine Thien, whose acclaimed 'Do Not Say We Have Nothing' was shortlisted for the 2016 Booker Prize, returns with 'The Book of Records', a tale set in a mysterious building where past and future converge.
Together they will discuss how stories of personal and political upheaval go hand-in-hand with experimental forms, challenging traditional ideas of the novel and exploring its creative possibilities.
