About
William Dalrymple is one of Britain's great historians and the bestselling author of many books on India. His latest, 'The Golden Road', explains India's often forgotten role in shaping the ancient world.
For more than 1500 years, India's art, religions, technology, music, literature and mathematics blazed a trail from the Red Sea to the Pacific, driving trade and powering innovation.
Dalrymple will be joined by cultural historian Lubaaba Al-Azami, whose book 'Travellers in the Golden Realm' sets the scene for the age of colonialism and globalisation that would follow.
Together they will reflect on how, throughout history, India has helped lay the foundations of the world as we know it.
