We welcome a guest post from Alfie Beer at The Green Door Store who is here to invite us all to the venue's big birthday party...

Fourteen years hey? Come celebrate with us on the 18th January. What a pleasure it continues to be providing the space for so many incredible nights & memories. The community around our venue is heart-warming and fills us with such joy. Our birthday party is as much about you as it is us; it’s our beautiful patrons that make our venue what it is.

Each year our birthday party bash is a free entry soiree with some of the most exciting upcoming bands from the city & beyond - we’ve a proven history of being the last chance to see an act in an intimate setting before they head on up to huge things (e.g Lambrini Girls & HotWax in the last few years... phoooar!) This year is absolutely no different as we can announce with delight that this year’s bill will be topped by one of the nation’s buzziest bands, Man/Woman/Chainsaw. The London based teenagers are causing a stir that started on the grassroots circuit and has now spread far and wide to landing major festival slots as well as extensive radio play & editorial playlisting - there really is no stopping this band! Their sound is uniquely unpredictable with many twists and turns, embracing both the raucous and the joyous. Playing an incredible mid-afternoon set here back at 234 Fest 2023, it’s been so exciting watching their journey over the last year and it’s an absolute pleasure to have them gracing our stage again, this time as a headliner.

Support comes from three of Brighton’s own - Flip Top Head, goodbye and Slag. Flip Top Head are an enigmatic six-piece post-rock outfit who’ve worked their way up through the Brighton grassroots scene to becoming one of the city’s most beloved acts. Having come back from touring the UK & EU in mid-Autumn, the band released their debut E.P in November which has garnered great support both among fans and critics, including a 4-star review by NME Magazine. After a sold-out debut show in September, goodbye, are fast rising in support and popularity across the city with their blend of dreamy shoegazing qualities & jangle pop sensibilities in a package that also isn’t afraid to get noisy. Slag are a force absolutely dominating the grassroots under-belly of Brighton, having played, and sold-out, the vast majority of its venues - their infectious sound and live performance will be the perfect start to what will be a truly memorable night of music at the Green Door Store.

And as if all this wasn’t enough, we’re also going to be opening Rossi Basement up for the official after-party featuring a late set from the much-loved ELLiS.D! The vocal acrobatics & song-writing extraordinaire of their front-person Ellis is truly exceptional, and his band aren’t too shabby either. Their sound takes influence from aspects of new-wave, garage, punk & psych, creating an infections wall of sound that wows any audience who gets the pleasure of hearing it. Yep - the after party is also going to be free entry too.

We invite you all to come and celebrate fourteen years of Green Door Store with us on 18th January. Doors will open at 6pm and be on a first-come-first-served basis so we do recommend coming down early! From the bottom of our hearts, we thank everyone who’s stepped foot on our cobblestone floors over the years - you are the Green Door Store. See you soon!

Alfie

Thanks Alfie - sounds like the 18th is going to be an awesome night!
